Brian Trimble gives students an inside to their current Peace Press exhibit

The University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach having the honor to pair up with the Center for the Study of Political Graphics is holding an exhibition, Art in the Pursuit of Social Change. The Peace Press exhibit is demonstrating visual and cultural art history that was portrayed by thriving artists in the era of social and political negligence. The exhibition is being coordinated and co-curated by UAM Associate Director Ilee Kaplan And Executive Director of the CSOG Carol Wells.
The exhibition took place on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the school’s museum found on campus from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit is giving students and other contemporary art lovers a feel of the political struggles in that specific era. The works of artists ranging from Harry Fonseca, Skip Williamson and Mark Vallen are being illustrated as a means of developing an understanding how the CSOG came about.
Brian Trimble, Curator of Education of the University Art Museum was found at the exhibit enjoying the various works of the artists and welcoming the students with any answers they might have regarding the exhibition. When Brian Trimble was asked how do you prepare yourself and your staff when a tour is about to take place?, he responded “I do my best to properly prepare my staff by giving them a tour of the many works we are showing and their connection to Art in the Pursuit of Social Change”. Mr. Trimble was also questioned, “What is your main focus in the UAM?” he enthusiastically answers, “ I am the Director of Education here at the UAM, meaning I am in charge of planning and organizing school tours, holding class lectures and implanting the content to the viewer in a peculiar but educational way”. He also goes into detail explaining their partnership with the YMCA, saying “ we try to encourage the community to visit our exhibits and enjoy the works of the artists and ends his way by saying “it’s fun stuff”.
Curator of Education Brian Trimble’s involvement in the exhibition was evident as he went on giving other fellow Long Beach Students the feel of the UAM and its contemporary art.
